Like I said, I am not taking campaign donations. I am running my campaign on $1000 of my own investment. If I win, it proves that people are fed up with politicians and the massive business of campaign finance. A win for me will be a win for all the people of the 56th district, freeing us from the bonds of control through campaign funding. Perhaps that will reverberate through the political arena and encourage others to turn away from donations and special interest. That would lower the barrier for winning elections, returning it to a victory of character and content, over size of the war chest.
If I lose, then I miscalculated and voters don't really care that much if lobbyists, PACs and special interest pour money into these races to control legislation. It will be politics as usual and I'll go back to my life and family. Either way, at the end of the day, I won't owe anyone any favors, I didn't waste anyone elses money and I can hang my head high that I stuck by a principle that matters to me.
However, win or lose, I would like to be able to say that any attention I was able to garner did help or positively impact my community in some fashion for the effort. Thus, if you had any plan or intention of donating to this campaign, instead, please select one of these worthy options or a noble cause of your own. These are local charities who come highly rated and reviewed online. I have no connection to them and don't know any of the people involved whatsoever. I merely looked into these organizations and like what they do and stand for. Feel free to donate to them, or not, BUT not in my name, in your own.
